A Scenic High-Altitude Lake
Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, is a glacial lake nestled in the East Sikkim district, around 40 kilometers from the capital city of Gangtok. Sitting at a lofty height of 3,753 meters (12,313 feet), the lake transforms into a frozen wonderland during the winter.
Natural Beauty and Cultural Significance
The lake's surface reflects the surrounding mountains, creating a captivating panorama that shifts colors with the seasons. Locals revere the lake, and Buddhist monks even used to study its changing hues for prognostication. Tsomgo Lake is oval-shaped, spanning roughly 24 hectares (60.5 acres) with a maximum depth of 15 meters (49 feet).

The lake area offers various activities for visitors. You can spot colorful prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and visit a small Shiva temple. Festivals
The lake plays host to the Guru Purnima festival, which coincides with the Raksha Bandhan festival. During this time, faith healers known as Jhakris gather to partake in the lake's believed healing properties.
