Topchanchi Lake is an artificial reservoir in the Topchanchi block of Jharkhand's Dhanbad district. Created by damming a stream to supply water, it covers about 214 acres and is surrounded by forested hills. The combination of water, greenery and open views has made the lake a recognised picnic and leisure destination, with the nearby Topchanchi Wildlife Sanctuary adding to the area's natural setting.
Topchanchi Lake lies near the main highway corridor, approximately 37 kilometres from Dhanbad railway station and 41 kilometres from Bokaro. Visitors should arrange road transport and confirm local access conditions before departure. Facilities and permitted activities may change, so swimming, boating or entry into protected areas should only be undertaken where officially allowed. Keeping the shoreline clean helps protect the reservoir and surrounding habitat.
