Tiger's Leap, also known as Waghdari, is a scenic viewpoint situated at Kurvande on the route towards Aamby Valley from Lonavala, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the must-see tourist places in Lonavala.
The name Tiger's Leap comes from the fact that the cliff top with a sheer drop of over 650 meters resembles the shape of a tiger leaping into a valley. It offers spectacular views of the forests, lush greenery, waterfalls and lakes around. The sunrise and sunset views from here are mesmerizing.
Reaching Tiger's Leap:
You can reach Tiger's Leap by bus or car. Buses ply from Lonavala and Pune to Tiger's Leap. If you are driving, you can take the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and exit at Lonavala. From Lonavala, follow the signs for Khandala. Tiger's Leap is about 8 km from Lonavala.
Things to do at Tiger's Leap:
- Enjoy the view: The main attraction of Tiger's Leap is the view. The view from the cliff top is simply breathtaking. You can see the Western Ghats, the valley below, and the INS Shivaji, a naval training establishment.
Go for a walk: There is a short walk from the car park to the viewpoint. The walk is easy and takes about 15 minutes.
Have a picnic: There is a picnic area near the viewpoint. You can pack your lunch and enjoy a meal with a view.
Echo Point: There is a natural echo point near the viewpoint. You can shout out loud and hear your voice echo back from the valley.

The best time to visit Tiger's Leap is during the monsoon season (June to September) when the waterfalls are flowing and the scenery is at its most beautiful.

Wear sturdy shoes as the ground can be uneven.
Be careful near the edge of the cliff as there are no railings.
