There are actually two prominent Swaminarayan temples in Surat, Gujarat, India:
- Shree Swaminarayan Temple: This temple is associated with the Vadtal Swaminarayan Sampraday. It is believed to be the first Swaminarayan temple built in Surat and is known for its beautiful pink stonework and intricate carvings. The central shrine houses the idol of Ladli Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj. - BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir: This temple is affiliated with Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). It's a grand structure with ornately carved sandstone walls, gold-plated murtis (idols) and a central shikhar (spire). The mandir also has beautiful gardens and cultural exhibitions are held here sometimes.
