The Port Dickson Army Museum, also known as Muzium Tentera Darat or Army Museum PD by locals, is a must-visit attraction for history buffs and those interested in military history. Located in the district of Sirusa, approximately 20 minutes drive from Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson, this museum is the only military museum in Malaysia and is considered one of the most modern museums in the country. It won the Merit Award in the category of 'Best Tourist Attraction on National Identity (Heritage) 2005/2006' by Tourism Malaysia.
The museum is managed by the Malaysian Royal Armed Forces and houses a vast collection of military artifacts, including memorabilia, uniforms, weapons, and vehicles. The nine galleries and numerous outdoor exhibits showcase the nation's military achievements and history, from the 16th century Melaka Sultanate to the British era.
Some of the highlights of the museum include:
- Outdoor exhibits: A collection of military aircrafts and helicopters, armoured vehicles, artillery pieces, and a steam locomotive.
- Galleries: Focus on different periods of Malaysian military history, including the Melaka Sultanate, the Portuguese and Dutch eras, the British era, and the modern Malaysian army.
- CPM (Communist Party of Malaya) Tunnel: A recreated underground tunnel network similar to the one used by the bandits during the Emergency.
- Audio-visual hall: Showcases documentaries and films related to Malaysian military history.
- Café and souvenir shop: Offers refreshments and memorabilia for visitors.
The Army Museum Port Dickson is open from Wednesdays to Sundays from 10.00am until 5.00pm.
