Kadyavarcha Ganapati: A Scenic Ganesha Temple in Konkan
Kadyavarcha Ganapati, also known as Anjarle Ganapati Temple, is a beautiful Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Located in the village of Anjarle, near Dapoli in Maharashtra, India, this temple is known for its stunning location, historical significance, and unique Ganesha idol.
Reaching the Temple:
Unlike earlier times, when reaching the temple involved crossing a river by boat, Kadyavarcha Ganapati is now easily accessible by road. The scenic drive itself is a delightful experience, offering glimpses of the natural beauty of Konkan.
The Temple's Architecture:
Built-in 1150 AD using wooden pillars, the temple underwent renovations during the 18th century. The three-tiered structure boasts intricate architecture. The main hall, assembly hall, and yard are adorned with beautiful carvings and have two grand entrances. The main Kalas (tower) features carvings of the eight holy forms of Ganesha (Ashtavinayaks), while 16 smaller Kalas surround it.
The Unique Idol:
A key attraction of the temple is the idol of Lord Ganesha himself. Unlike most Ganesha idols where the trunk curves to the left, the idol here has a right-handed trunk, making it quite rare.
Enthralling Views and Surroundings:
The temple's location atop a hill offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. You can catch glimpses of the nearby Suvarnadurg Fort, the Anjarle Creek, and lush green hills. A small pond in front of the temple adds to the serenity of the place.
Festivals and Significance:
Maghi Ganesh Utsav, celebrating Lord Ganesha's birthday, is the most important festival observed here. Locals consider the temple highly sacred, and it's a popular pilgrimage destination, especially for those seeking blessings from Lord Ganesha.
Combining Your Visit:
Anjarle Beach, known for its pristine beauty and relaxed atmosphere, is located close by. You can easily combine a visit to the temple with some beach time, making it a perfect escape for those seeking a spiritual and scenic experience.
