Gomateshwara Statue is the monumental image of Bahubali on Vindhyagiri hill at Shravanabelagola in Karnataka. Carved from a single mass of stone and standing approximately 18 metres high, it is among the world's tallest free-standing monolithic statues. The figure is a major focus of Jain pilgrimage and forms part of a religious landscape with temples, inscriptions and monuments across Shravanabelagola's rocky hills.
Reaching Gomateshwara Statue involves climbing the exposed stone steps of Vindhyagiri, so visitors should carry water, use sun protection and take care in hot or wet conditions. Footwear is removed for the sacred hill, and local arrangements may be available for people unable to make the climb independently. The Mahamastakabhisheka anointing ceremony is held periodically on a twelve-year cycle and attracts especially large numbers of pilgrims.
