The Golghar, also known as the Gol Ghar or Round House, is a large granary located in Patna, Bihar, India. It's a popular tourist destination known for its unique beehive-shaped structure and historical significance.
Built in 1786 by British engineer John Garstin, the Golghar was intended as the first of a series of granaries to prevent famines in the region. Unfortunately, no other granaries were ever constructed.
Getting There:
The Golghar is located to the west of Gandhi Maidan, a large park in the heart of Patna. You can easily reach the Golghar by rickshaw, auto-rickshaw, or taxi. If you're coming from outside Patna, you can take a train or bus to Patna Junction and then hire a cab or rickshaw to reach the Golghar.

The main attraction at the Golghar is the granary itself. You can walk around the exterior of the building and admire its impressive architecture. The Golghar is made of brick and mortar and has a hollow interior that was designed to store grain.
While climbing the Golghar is not allowed, you can still get some great views of Patna from the top. There is a narrow staircase that leads to the top of the dome, but it is usually closed to the public.
