Glossa Town is a traditional hillside settlement on the northwestern side of Skopelos, above the port of Loutraki. It is the island’s second-largest settlement and is characterized by steep lanes, tiled roofs, wooden balconies and broad views toward the sea. Nearby remains and a folklore museum help connect the village with the island’s longer history.
Exploring Glossa Town involves many slopes and steps, so secure footwear and an unhurried pace are important. Vehicles cannot enter every lane, and travelers with limited mobility should check the most suitable access point in advance. The historic center is also a residential neighborhood: private doorways and courtyards should be respected, photography of residents requires permission, and noise should be kept low, especially outside busy daytime hours.
