It is home to over 4,500 flowers and 139 recorded bird species. The garden features a variety of ecosystems, including a tropical forest, a palm garden, and a butterfly house. It also has a herbarium, a library, and a pond.
The botanical garden was founded in 1972 and is now operated by the Botanical Garden Foundation of Medellín. It is open to the public daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
