There are actually two stadiums in Ranchi named after Birsa Munda, a revered tribal leader who advocated for the rights of Adivasis.
- Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium: This stadium is primarily used for hockey matches and is the home ground for the Hockey India League franchise, Ranchi Rays. It has a seating capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators and features floodlights for night games, a large screen for live telecasts, and an electronic scoreboard.

- Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium: This much larger stadium is used for athletics and football matches. It has a seating capacity of 35,000 and was the inspiration behind the renovation of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2011 National Games of India.
