Ananthapura Lake temple stands on a spring-fed lake in Ananthapura village in Kerala's Kasaragod district. Regarded as Kerala's only lake temple, the shrine is associated with Lord Anantha Padmanabha and is traditionally considered the original abode of the deity worshipped at Thiruvananthapuram's Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. A footbridge connects the shore with the temple structures in the lake.
Ananthapura Lake temple contains notable wooden carvings depicting the Dashavatara and other religious subjects. It remains an active place of worship, so visitors should observe dress, footwear and photography rules. Published temple hours include morning and evening sessions with a midday closure, but schedules can change during festivals. Kasaragod is the nearest represented travel base, and local road transport is required for the final approach.
